Project Description: WOMANKIND Worldwide - June 2007
Lauryn designed and conducted the Mid-Term Evaluation of the Women's Empowerment Programme supported by WOMANKIND Worldwide in Afghanistan. This was a participatory evaluation undertaken in collaboration with the programme's three local partners, the Afghan Women's Network, the Afghan Women's Resource Centre, and the Afghan Women's Educational Centre. The evaluation included site visits to Kabul, Mazar-i-sharif, Jalalabad (Afghanistan), and Peshawar (Pakistan), extensive interviews and focus groups, a review of the project literature and the preparation of the evaluation report and recommendations.
Project Description: Eclipse Environmental Consulting
Lauryn worked with Eclipse Environmental Consulting to undertake a stakeholder engagement process for the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee's first Sustainability Report. Lauryn and Eclipse's director engaged with a large and diverse array of stakeholders to gather constructive feedback on VANOC's report and to feed into planning for the organization's next sustainability report.
Project Description: University of British Columbia
Lauryn designed and wrote the content for the website of the Applied Linguistics and Literacy in Africa and the Diaspora Research Network. She coordinates this network, recruiting and maintaining their membership database and publishing the Research Network's four annual newsletters. Network members are actively researching various issues around applied linguistics, literacy, education, multilingualism, reading practice, reading culture, and more in African contexts, and come from Universities in Africa, North America and Europe.
